I loved the fact that the best American golfers competed head-to-head with the best from Europe ( including UK ) for the Ryder Cup and they did so for patriotic pride only. No fees for playing. I assume, however, that expenses are paid and players are not out of pocket.
It was great to see 24 players, probably the best in the world and earning large financial rewards, actually showing passion to represent their homelands. They played purely for the honour.
Sad to see that the American team will be paid about £400000 each to play in the next contest. It kinda takes away the passion for me and devalues the event.
Will the Europeans follow suit? I hope not. What do you think?
Twithay?
