Surprisingly for summer, it was rather cool and drizzley the day after our arrival so we were restricted to whatever entertainment was on offer indoors.
Firstly, we join in a quiz with a difference, at least it was for us. It was Majority Rules. The 15 participating groups of 2, 3 or 4 people were asked a question like, " what is your idea of a terrible first date?". After agreeing in groups each one submitted their answer. In this instance, " being taken to a football match", which had the most responses, was declared the winner. Groups submitting that response gained a point.
Most of the questions attracted very comical answers and some of the participants were obviously missing careers as joke writers.
An amusing way to spend our time and was well conducted by Caitlyn an entertainment staff member.
We stayed on in the theatre for the next event which was a Jive lesson. As a 'cool disco dad', did I need this? Yes I did. We all enjoyed various levels of success which was put into practice that very night. Again, a well led and enjoyable interlude.
Thanks.
Next was a tour backstage which we declined. It was time for a swim so off we went to the Spa complex.
It's not a large pool and probably can accommodate about a maximum of 8 people doing lengths. Only 3 while we were there so we could splash around and not cause accidents. There's a sauna, steam room and one which is a mixture of both.
Towels are provided at the desk and costume driers are fitted in the changing rooms. Some of the lockable lockers don't lock.
We enjoyed the opportunity to gently exercise.
After dinner on the first evening we made our way to the Pavilion Theatre to be entertained by Kieran Sutcliffe a finalist on Britain's Got Talent 2014.
Even though we dined late we had no problem finding seats at the back of the auditorium. I think if the show was in more demand I would spend the extra to get reserved seating and waiter service.
Kieran has a fine voice and gave a good show.
The next night we enjoyed Rock tribute performances from the entertainment crew. It was well received by the packed audience and many stayed on after to show off their Jive skills learned earlier.
The performances of the three-piece backing group, Distinction, provided excellent accompliment regardless of the genre of music being featured.
All the performers gave 100% in trying to make everyone's experience the best they could.
A couple of pieces of communication that amused us.
The main points emerging from our first visit to a Warner holiday location are:
Book activities in advance.
If you are going to see a special act, then pay extra to book your seats and service.
Eat relatively early, choose from the kitchen menu first and add from buffet.
Be aware that many clients are sometimes elderly and have motor issues.
Our experience reminded us of that of a cruise.... but on land. We got lost at first, staff are excellent, food is plentiful, drinks slightly expensive, £10.50 for doubled up Gordon's G&T, wine over £25, ( take your own - good size fridge in room ), you can relax or be active and it'll probably be better the next time round.
On that subject, if you book again before leaving you'll be eligible for a discount on your next booking.
We will try Warners again in the 2025.
Around the beautiful estate.
Twithay?
