Morning everyone,
It's my birthday on Friday, but I'm on-call all week - including this weekend coming, so my wife treated me this weekend to a sojourn at 'The Inn on the Shore' at Downderry. Downderry is a little coastal community between Torpoint and Looe.
I thought I'd share a few photos I was lucky enough to capture whilst down there.
The first picture may not come out very well on this platform, but it looks great on my phone. I've never had much joy photographing the night sky - understandable with a mobile phone, but I managed to take this with said device, from our room window. It shows the constellation of Orion, setting in the Western sky over the lights of Looe...
The food wasn't brilliant, I have to say, although there were mitigating circumstances for the limited menu in that they are closing down for a couple of days while the kitchen is refurbished (they were running down stocks). I couldn't fault the staff, the cleanliness and well equipped rooms (our en-suite room was beautiful) and the views were wonderul. I think we had one of three rooms with sea views. Whilst we got very lucky with the weather (as you may have noticed), I'd like the idea of being there on a stormy day. Wife, Celia, and I, had a similar mini-break at Porthleven - directly over-looking the waves back in January 2018. That was awesome.
I'm writing this from my BT van, situated in the middle of a housing estate in Broadstone - the other side of Poole. I've just fixed a green Openreach cabinet giving broadband to about 180 customers. Just about to set off back to Torquay - the journey made worse by the fact that the A35 is closed near Axminster 😴
EDIT
Got home at 02:55.
What was the food like at The Inn on the Shore?
Can you give it a score out of 10 and would you recommend it?
Cheers
Twithay
Again stunning photos from around the countryside we love so much. Makes us enjoy life rather than complain about it. Thanks Jim. Happy Birthday for Friday.
I took this picture on during a walk along the beach from Downderry to Seaton, on Saturday afternoon...
